LA 5K Completed

Proud member of Team Concern

I’m so proud of everyone who completed the LA 5K at Dodgers Stadium this morning. From what the announcers said, there were 6K people running - either for personal gain or for their charity of choice. What an accomplishment to have so many people walk or run the race. Especially in the wind! The proceeds help to support The McCourt Foundation, an organization that strives to cure neurological diseases one event at a time.

I ran with the Cancer Support Community of Los Angeles. It’s an organization that resonates so much with me because nearly everyone knows someone who has been affected by cancer. CSCLA offers support resources for people who have loved ones who experienced cancer. I know several people who have been affected, including a beloved uncle who was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. I fundraised and ran in support of those individuals who we care about so much.

Another bright spot of the run? I was in the top 5% of females running the event. Top 5! I don’t know if I’ve ever been in the top 5%. I’m so proud of myself because I consider this to be an accomplishment. Out of 3,633 female runners, I did pretty dang good.

This experience taught me that we all have so much to give. Either to challenge our limits or to support organizations that resonate with ourselves. I want to continue to push myself - through workouts, through personal development, through personal enrichment, etc. I also want to continue to support organizations that are really working to create positive change in the LA community. If anyone knows of any organizations that really deserve strong support, please let me know!

Tomorrow, the LA Marathon and half marathon are taking place at the same starting point. I’ll be cheering those runners on when they get to Westwood. I wish them all the best of luck!

Top 5%!
