Does anyone else get a running hangover?

It’s been five days since I ran the Venice Beach 5K. Does anyone else get a hangover from running? It seems that my body isn’t interested in working out in any shape or form. I’ve been forcing myself to do some at-home HIIT workouts to keep my body in motion. I really dislike staying still, and I’m not a fan of rest days (I know, I know - rest days are very important for recovery). But after a big run, it’s very tough for me to find the motivation to move. After my first half marathon, I didn’t run again for four months. It takes that much out of me. Does anyone else experience this?

I haven’t gone to the gym at all this week. I managed to run a 3.2 miles this morning at a leisurely pace, but I had to consistently repeat to myself that I needed this run. I’m hoping to find my motivation again. I’m due to begin training for my half marathon. Also, summer is coming, and that means beach days are finally here.

I understand that my body needs rest, and perhaps this week is what the body needs in this moment. But it’s taken a toll on my mental health since working out releases the endorphins I need to help reduce my anxiety. I’ll get there. It will take some time, and I’m listening to what my body needs (even if it’s against my will lol).
